Brethren,
I had a couple of highlight moments this month. First I had the opportunity
to represent Ohio DeMolay at the Wisconsin DeMolay State Master Councilor
Testimonial (our reception). It was tons of fun and I was so excited to see
some of the things they are doing. I want to congratulate the new Master
Councilors of Linden, Ottawa, and Upper Sandusky. It was truly a pleasure to
be at all of your installations. It seems that Craftsman Park should be
renamed DeMolay Park seeing as we had 2 events there this month. The
Statewide Initiation had 8 candidates receive degrees and ODLE was off and
rolling just as it always is.
This upcoming month is full of finals at Ohio State, DeMolay International
Congress, and Ohio Job's Daughters' Grand Bethel. But perhaps the most
important upcoming event is Ohio DeMolay Conclave 2007. This event is shaping
up to be one of the most fun and exciting conclaves in years. The theme is
Mystery and special events will include mystery themed activities as well as
a Masquerade Ball! Get your mask ready and let your alternate personality
take over because this is one Grand Ball you don't want to miss. We have made
multiple changes this year but they are so shrouded in secrecy that I can't
tell you about them. Get excited and tell all your friends because you want
to be at this event!
Fraternally,
Bro. Craig A. Loose
State Master Councilor

Fundraise your way to Conclave !
In the past few
months Ohio DeMolay has had an article in the E- Connection about fund
raising in each issue. So far these have all been fundraising ideas for
raising money on a chapter level. This month we'll be taking a change of pace
for those brethren looking to go to Conclave for free. That's right FREE
CONCLAVE! All you need is a little motivation, and by selling Conclave
Advertisements you'll be heading to Conclave for free! Conclave ads appear in
the Conclave bulletin and are usually purchased by Masonic bodies to wish the
members of Ohio DeMolay luck in the upcoming term. But you'll have to act
fast if you want to attend Conclave for free; the deadline for advertisements
is June 15. So get selling and I'll see you all at Conclave.
One can find the form
for this fund raiser at the Ohio DeMolay website labeled conclave
advertisement form.

Please take time to read the "News and Views"
link off the web site on a frequent basis. You'll find out details about many
interesting things happening throughout Ohio
While I generally
like to look for the positive side rather than the negative, this year Ohio
DeMolay is not doing well at all in membership. Ohio was not listed when the
last top 10 list for new members this year was posted by DeMolay
International. So far this year, we only have 30 total for the entire state!
This must change soon. This problem is not limited to just one area but we
still have 3 DISTRICTS which have not posted at least one new member this
year and no Chapter in the State has initiated more than they have lost to
majority at this point in the year. The Advisors can't increase membership in
Ohio DeMolay, the DeMolay's must be the ones to provide the prospective new
members. If you enjoy DeMolay, you owe it to your friends to talk to them
about joining.
From the more positive side, we have three new Chapters which are in the
process of getting Advisors trained and I have submitted the paperwork to
DeMolay International to have all three soon start getting members. I've
heard they are all in the process of planning a prospect to get the Chapter
started. In addition, I heard we had seven young men who joined at the
statewide initiation on the 19th of May (I unfortunately could not make it
that day as I was attending my daughter's initiation into Ohio Rainbow.)
While half the year is gone, there is still time to make this a good year for
membership for Ohio DeMolay. It is up to you to help determine what success
is in store for Ohio DeMolay for the rest of the year.
1. Watch the website as soon information should be coming out on Conclave
which is scheduled to be held August 9-12 at Bowling Green University. This
year the cost will be $200. More information should be coming out soon for
this activity.
2. Information is on the web site for the Ohio DeMolay Hall of Fame Banquet
at the Aladdin Shrine in Columbus on June 30th. Reservations are due June
22nd!
