Wow did we have a great October in Ohio DeMolay!  The Fall Workshop was a great and Fearfest at King's Island is always a blast.  Hamilton Chapter hosted the Fall Workshop this year where we learned a lot about how to jump start a struggling chapter and how to make a successful chapter even better.  If you were unfortunate enough to miss out on the Fall Workshop you can pick up these essential lessons at ODLE next Memorial Day weekend.  One of the keys to moving forward this year with Ohio DeMolay is to build a strong foundation for the future and that is what we are doing with the Fall Workshops and ODLE.  Once we've built that strong foundation we can draw lines on it and play flag football.  Coming up on November 10th in Marietta, OH we'll be having our annual State Flag Football Frenzy.  Cost is only $5 per person with random drawings for teams everyone is sure to have a good time.  At 10:30 AM that same day, the Ohio State Council will be holding an initiation of new members for Marietta Chapter.  This will be a new start for Marietta Chapter and we are looking forward to welcoming our new brothers into Ohio DeMolay, and I hope all our brethren will in the festivities.

From the State Senior Councilor:
With Thanksgiving right around the corner the need for great desserts at the dinner table is a must.  Since I have been in DeMolay, every year for Thanksgiving and Easter, the big sweet holidays, my chapter has sold pies from a local shop for a fund raiser.  We went through Pie Peddler, which is a pie place around the Dayton area that both us and our Rainbow girls go through.  All that was needed was a lot of order forms, cooperation from our members, and pie lovers from our local area and BAM! You have funds to use as a chapter. On our last sale we made enough money during the Easter holiday to reduce the cost of Conclave on our members and at this time of the year, the funds could help your chapter do the same thing but for Winterfest.

Brothers I would just like to let everyone know that the programs that we have started for membership are still going on. The #1 club is going to be very successful I hope and at Winterfest I will have all of the membership cards and T-Shirts for those who have already brought in one member.

From the Executive Officer:

  1. Winterfest is fast approaching. Please review closely the articles detailing the information and due dates. This year Winterfest will be the week between Christmas and New Years so adhering to the due dates is especially important.

  2. The Fall Workshop turned out to be a good learning experience for those who attended. I will apologize for the limited or reduced promotion via the eConnection but due to technical and administrative issues this past month an October eConnection was not possible.

  3. We are in the top ten in the country of new members but just barely at #9. We need to work hard the rest of this year and gear up for next year as we attempt to make sure we show a gain in 2008.

  4. Our State Master Councilor, Eric Small and I made the rounds of the Grand Bodies during the last part of September through the middle of October. Our new Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother Ron Winnett is also a Senior DeMolay from Aladdin DeMolay in Columbus, Ohio.

  5. Our outgoing Grand Master, Mike Himes who is also a Senior DeMolay , was announced at Grand Lodge as the new Governor for the 7th DeMolay District. Dad Umbach has suffered through some personal loss during the past year along with some major back problems and has asked to step down to give his back a chance to recover. We are hoping he gets better soon and can be back helping out Ivanhoe Chapter very soon. Thanks Dad Umbach for your service to the 7th DeMolay District.

  6. We are going to try to have an initiation at Flag Football in Marietta starting around 10 in the morning so any candidates needing initiation can be brought that day and initiated (They need to have signed and approved petitions along with their Health release form). Please let Dad Lowe know if you will be bringing candidates that day so he can prepare. Any candidate being initiated that day will have the fee to play Flag Football waved.
